Camera’s viewfinder isn’t allowance of the exposure process. It does posses an important role, however, because the dSLR’s viewing system is, with lens interchangeability, one of the reasons why nation lust after these cameras in the first place.

I’d like to know which Canon camera would be the best to start off with. I’m thinking $500-$600 budget wise (or something around that is fine too). I guess your top 3 preferences would do.

Also, if the camera does not have Live View, would that make taking pictures harder? Is Live View a necessity?
Thanks.

I want fairly good quality along with a fairly good price. Must fit a nikon D40.

I have a Canon SLR which is on it’s last legs (given to me by an old friend in exchange for a pint!) and came with only a single lens. Neither the body nor the lens are of a quality worth keeping but the camera has nonetheless served me well.

I would now like to buy a DSLR as I have learned the very basics on a regualr SLR. Can you recommend a beginner-friendly DSLR?

Thanks.

How come picture’s on a DSLR camera come out much sharper and nicer than a Point and Shoot camera? Any reason why?

It is a feature used well in landscape photography whereby the camera takes three photo’s, three stops apart then combines the images to gain the best detail from them. I would like to know if Nikon have a similar feature on my D40 and if so how do i get the best from it?

I recently purchased a Nikon D40, and i’m trying to find a teleconverter that will work with my 70-300 mm lens. I know for a fact that the Nikon TC 14 E, 17 E, and 20 E will only work with fixed focal length lenses, and i don’t have the $1500 to buy a fixed length telephoto lens.

I’ve been super interested with photography since I was a kid. When my mom bought a canon powershot 460 (simple digital camera) I just couldn’t stop taking pictures. I’m just worried I might not maximize the features of a DSLR coz I don’t have much knowledge about it

hey i need to get a canon dslr for art to take very detailed pics with but i don’t know which cam 2 go 4 the 450 d r the 500 d? would i be better spending the extra money and is it worth it? also if anyone has any pics from these cameras i can look at than that would be cool? and how much more detail will a macro lens give u????
thanks mj

I’m confused about this. DSLR cameras are generally always more expensive than Point and shoot cameras. But why is it that DSLR cameras have a lower zoom range than P&S? For example, if a DSLR came with a 17-45mm lens (I’ve been told to divide 45/17 = 2.6x zoom) but some cheap P&S cameras have 5x zoom.
So does that mean P&S cameras can zoom further than DSLR?
