i want to buy a canon or nikon dslr , and i want to know if they can take movies.

    No they don’t
    They are cameras based upon 35mm SLR’s used by professionals. They do a great job making professional quality digital images for “deadline” publishers.

    If you take a look at the way they work, a mirror must be moved out of the way and shutter must be open during the exposure of each image, so shooting at 30 fps is out of the question.

    Professionals really don’t need this feature on their cameras and if they want to shoot video, they buy a video camera.

    Nikon D60 has stop motion movie, it’s not very long.

    They design no movie mode on all SLR digital cameras of any brands, give 10 to Fhotoace.
