DSLR Cameras Questions Archives

I’m starting to take photography as a real hobby, spending many weekends out there shooting, and I feel it’s time to change my shooting gear from a canon A520 point & shoot (which surprisingly accepts a lot of manual settings) and my old canon AE-1 (with a tamron 70-280 lens, and the trusty old 50mm prime) to a dSLR. Now I have done quite a lot of research about Nikon and Canon dSLR cameras (Nikon D50 and Canon 350D in particular), and I know both are very good bodies with not-the-greatest kit lenses. And I know that it all comes to lenses when photo quality is considered, and that both manufacturers have excelent lenses. I also know that I’ll stick with the brand I choose now for the next couple of years.

Question: How do Nikon and Canon lens offerings compare together in terms of pricing and quality? To be more specific, if you take two very similar lenses (both in terms of numbers AND optics quality) from each manufacturer, which one would be cheaper? Would this be a general rule?

I would like to buy a DSLR camera for commercial use (in studio and outdoor) but i need a good recommendation. Which of the two is better? Any other model in mind? Please note: I only have about $800-$900 to spend on both camera body and at least 1 lens.

I’m getting into photography and I most likely will be getting my camera within the next couple of weeks. I’m debating whether I should get a Nikon or a Canon. I’m leaning more towards a Canon but their lenses are very expensive. I need help choosing!! COMMENTS HIGHLY APPRECIATED!!! Thanks!

I’m looking for a camera for school, I’m going to have a degree in photography. I can only choose a Nikon DSLR or a Canon DSLR. I’m having trouble choosing because these to types of cameras are awesome, which camera would you recommend?

which is better nikon or canon dslr camera

I’m going to take a basic photography class at the local college and the class requires a SLR or compact digital with overrides. How do I know if my camera has these features.
I have a Panasonic Lumix DMC-LZ2 digital camera that was purchased in 2005. The camera has optical image stabilization, which alleviates camera shake problems. The camera lacks manual control over shutter speed and aperture and has no optical viewfinder. This is all I know about the camera.

I am interested in photography as a hobby and I am just a beginner. What would be a good digital slr camera to start out with? I don’t want something too cheap but it doesn’t have to be fancy either.

I don’t know anything about professional photography, and I need a reasonable priced digital SLR to practice with. What do you suggest?

I’m planning to spend between £450-£600 on a digital SLR camera sometime soon and I was wondering what the best one out there is at the moment.
Preferably I’d like opinions from people who have actually had experience with cameras in general…
I’d be interested to hear about noise handling in particular.

I want to upgrade to a digital camera and I was wondering what would be a good one to go with for an amateur photographer. I like the Cannon Rebel line of cameras but I was wondering what a more affordable option might be. What are your thoughts on the Pentax K100d. I learned on a Pentax K1000 and I read that most of the older lenses will fit the Pentax digital SLR cameras.
