Does Anyone Know Anything About The Nikon Dslr Cameras?

I’m looking to purchase a DSLR camera and have done a lot of research. I think I’ve narrowed it down to the Nikon and am looking at the Nikon D60 kit with 18-135mm lens. Does anyone know anything about the D60? Is it significantly better than the D40? Any input would be very much appreciated!

From my limited knowledge about these two cameras, they are essentially the same camera, but with a few minor updates in the D60. You cannot go wrong with either, IMO. Both are great cameras, but the D40 will save you some money…For more info, read this article:http://www.kenrockwell.com/tech/recommen…
He discusses both models in it, and gives great advice.

The Nikon D60 is a slight improvement on the d40. You can get either one of them, the d60 has sensor cleaner, that 10mega-pixel capacity, that is useful if you are going to crop pictures, and the LCD image and information that adjusts to either vertical or horizontal position depending on how you ar holding the camera. By the way, I’ve used the 18-135 lens and it is a good lens for most of picture taking needs.
The D60 has these slight advantages:
    10 mega-pixel sensor vs. 6
Lower base sensitivity (ISO 100 vs ISO 200)
Auto ISO option includes ISO 200
Faster continuous shooting (3 fps vs. 2.5 fps)
    EXPEED processing
Image sensor cleaning system with Airflow control system
Automatically rotating user interface (for using camera vertically orientated)
    Stop motion movie function
    Eye sensor
    Electronic ‘rangefinder’ for manual focus
    Active D-Lighting with dedicated button
    In-camera Raw processing
    New JPEG retouch effect
The d40 has 2 big advantages:
    it is cheaper
faster flash sync 1/500 vs the d60 flash sync of 1/250.
    Either one is fine.

I have the D200, and don’t know anything about those two,
But if there is anyway you can afford it, I would STRONGLY suggest the 18-200 VR lens with whichever camera you pick.
It goes from wide angle to a good zoom, without having to swap out lends, so you done; worry about dust on the sensor.
    About $600, but worth it.
You will be very happy a few months down the road, that you spent the money.
