i thinks its in the setup under something like “photo settings” or something along those lines and if not check on the review function if you can do it i know a few of the newer ones can do it after you’ve taken the picture on the camera
The last I checked, the D70, D70s, D50, and other oldies do not have this function. These functions might be on the newer DSLR cameras, but why would you want to do it in camera? What if you like the image better in colour? Since it was shot in black and white or sepia, that image will never have colour. It is really best to convert to black and white, adjust the curves, and do all that other stuff in a program, such as Photoshop or GIMP. It’s just the smarter thing to do.
The camera should have that feature. read the manual that came with it.
Or you can always edit the pictures using a photo editor software.
The D70s is an older Nikon SLR that did not include that feature to make B/W shots. Contrary to what some believe, this feature is in fact on newer pro-level cameras like the D200. For those with a D200, check out the optimize image setting and you’ll find it there.
So, for the D70 and D70s, you’ll have to do it in post-processing, that is, on the computer after you’ve taken the image. You can shoot RAW and use Nikon Capture or you can use Photoshop (various methods to convert a color image to B/W or Sepia).
I have never used a D70 but I can assure you, it’s always best to post edit. Post editing allows you to have more control over the outcome of the image as well as the quality. I use photoshop whenever I want to change colors and/or add effects.
If I remember well however, the D70 doesn’t have the option to shoot black and white…
take the pic, then use a program like photoshop or dreamweaver to edit the photos.
Nikon DSLR’s are designed as pro camera’s. All the conversion to black and white, sepia is left to post production. Each photographer needs to have total control over the contrast, gamma and things like that when they are converting digital images into a black and white one …
Most point and shoot cameras that have those features and they are recorded based upon a algorithm written by an engineer who doesn’t know the photographer, nor the style of the photographer using the camera.
All the post production you want to do, can be done using Photoshop Elements or Photoshop. Remember, to get the best quality black and white, you need to keep the file in the RGB mode.http://www.kenrockwell.com/tech/photosho…
Like others have said you’ll have to convert to B&W through post processing. I’m a big fan of using Adobe Lightroom for this. The new camera raw for CS3 should do the same thing, but I use Lightroom as my raw converter.
