The shoe itself is the same but depending on the model it is designed for, the moulding on the cover might not look natural.
They are by design the same size … there are NO Canon flash units that only work on P&S cameras and others on only DSLR and SLR cameras .. it makes no economic sense. So any current hot shoe cover will fit.
Look for a good Canon dedicated speed light if you later need one and enjoy it.
