I would like to buy a DSLR camera for commercial use (in studio and outdoor) but i need a good recommendation. Which of the two is better? Any other model in mind? Please note: I only have about $800-$900 to spend on both camera body and at least 1 lens.

For commercial use? Neither. They will give disappointing results. You need to spend more and budget for a couple of lenses at least. Depending on the commercial work you’re willing to do (probably portraits?) you’ll need to spend double your budget on a good lens.
If you are really on a budget and want the best quality for the money, check out the P&S Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ28 [with a Leica lense] which has more features than most pro DSLRs that require auxiliary lenses not even equal to the single initial full-range lense that comes with the FZ28. It just came out on November 4, 2008.
It’s an all-in-one 10.1 megapixel digital camera which includes (i) built-in image stabilization; (ii) HD720 quality video [Quicktime] which permits zooming while videoing skateboarding, action sports; (iii) a 18x zoom [27 - 486 mm (35mm equiv.)] “Leica” lense for nature and concert photography; (iv) up to 0.39 inch macro option; (v) up to 6400 ASA; (vi) takes up to 380 pictures per 120 min. battery charge; (vii) has a “burst speed” of 13 fps; and sells new for $270 at amazon.com. in the U.S.
Good luck!
Mark is absolutely correct with his answer before me. Neither model is classified by Canon as a “Professional Grade” camera for commercial or industrial use. That doesn’t mean you could not get good results from either of them, provided that you don’t go too big with the enlargements. This is because neither camera utilized a “full frame” sensor such as the ones found in the Canon EOS 1Ds or Canon EOS 5D Mark II.
The cheapest camera that Canon offers for “Professional Use” would be the Canon EOS 5D Mark II which presently sells for around $2,400-2,600. without the lens. I can attest to the professional quality of this camera because I also own one. I also own the Canon EOS Rebel XSi, and while the XSi is an awesome camera….it does not offer the same level of quality as the Canon EOS 5D, Mark II.
You would be learning about the techniques of photography I assume before you just dive into commercial work? I assume that you don’t know a lot now or you wouldn’t have to ask here which camera you should get.
The Sony a350 would be a great camera to start. You can get one with a 16-105mm lens for under $1000 on ebay. The 16-105 is undoubtedly the best “kit” lens available for any brand. It is better than a lot of non-kit lenses. The a350 is a 14MP camerabody with live view. If you are interested in live view, Sony does live view like no one else.
Really, you should go out and try out some cameras and see which ones you like. Because it really doesn’t matter which brand and model. All DSLRs are great cameras.
