What Company Makes A Better Dslr Camera? Nikon Or Canon?
I’m getting into photography and I most likely will be getting my camera within the next couple of weeks. I’m debating whether I should get a Nikon or a Canon. I’m leaning more towards a Canon but their lenses are very expensive. I need help choosing!! COMMENTS HIGHLY APPRECIATED!!! Thanks!

Both are great companies and make great cameras. So do other companies. Canon and Nikon tend to be overpriced for you get, you pay a premium for buying the popular kids.
Both camera brands are very good, and both have expensive and cheap lenses. That’s just how it works. I have a Nikon, so I prefer Nikons, but Canon’s are still really good. Neither one is really that much better than the other. One advantage that Nikon has is that the bodies are compatible with their old lenses, whereas Canon doesn’t do that. For example, on my Nikon D80, if I wanted to buy a lense that was made in the 50’s, I would be able to use it. With Canon, however, you could never do that. Their bodies are not made to be compatible with older lenses. Other than that, they’re both very good, and in order to buy great lenses from either brands, they’re going to be expensive. Just shop around, and if you see Nikon lenses are a little cheaper, go with Nikon. The image quality will be awesome. Nikon is also known for it’s high quality lenses. Good luck with this!
And remember: When you hear people preach about Nikon, or people preach about Canon, they’re just biased opinions and should be treated as such. You’ll have great quality with either brand.
Hi, after using film slr`s for 40 years I added a digital cam, to my collection. Both cameras brands are great but I liked Canon`s software for it`s ease of use. So do consider that too. The image quality and ability to edit/correct/ enhance etc is so simple and fast. Also seemed to be conflict free with other software. Some really suck and will give you nother but a headache.
Either one is a good choice. They run pretty close to the same price at the same tier, so in the end it all comes down to which feels best to you. Personally, I prefer Canon because I just I don’t like the Nikon menu system and layout.
Canon lenses are no more expensive than Nikon.
Lenses for both are pretty expensive…but I prefer Nikon
