What Dslr Camera Should I Get For Action Shots?
I’ve done some research and It is either the Sony A100 or the Nikon D80. But I’m really on the fence between the two. I know the specs of both but this is my first DSLR and want to know which one I should get.

If your primary thing is action shots, consider the Nikon D200 (still available) which can do 5 frames per second, as well as the new D300. If money is an issue (and when is it not??), you might also consider the older Nikon D2h or D2hs, which is available used and often found for about what a new D80 sells for. It may only be 4 megapixels, but it’s an SLR 4 megapixels, which is plenty for 11×14″ inch prints and it shoots 8 frames per second.
Between your two cameras, I’d pick the Nikon D80. The A100 is more of an entry-level Sony, plus the lens availability/lens lineup is not as extensive as Nikon’s lens lineup. Finally, go into the store and actually handle both cameras. The amount of importance in how something feels to you personally cannot be overstated. Check the build quality, whether your hands feels natural on the camera, whether the buttons seem logical, the menus, etc. Once you actually handle the cameras, the decision will be easier.
All of the major brands are good. Choose a brand that appeals to you. Then you have to think about getting a spare battery, what size memory card, if you want an extended warranty, how much you can afford, what size zoom, if you want manual controls, the size of the camera, finding a reliable place to purchase it, and the list goes on and on and on…….
The first thing to realize is that almost any digital camera will take good pictures. If more people would read the manual more than once, they would be able to take better pictures. Usually, the person assumes it is the camera when it could be them not knowing exactly what to do. Just give yourself more photographic knowledge by doing more reading on the internet.
I think the SonyA100 is GREAT! I got it a few years ago from my parents for Christmas. I fell in love with it. But then again, I have never used the Nikon D80
Its gotta be the Nikon, Nikon is used by most professional photographers and they swear by them.
I think canon also has a new one out called the d30 or d40 or something.
If you don’t have the fastest lenses, you will want to make sure that the ISO clarity at higher iso settings is good. This is still an area of contention with many digital camera.

It has a greater choice of lenses.
Try the canon 30d or the rebel xt or the xti they have 3 fps to 5 fps
