I say save up another $200 and get the Nikon D90 kit. The D90 does better than the D80. Does movies too if you wanted that. I would get the old and trusty D40 and get a really nice versatile lens like the Nikon 18-200mm VR.

You can get the Nikon D80 for cheap with a nikkor 18-135mm lense on amazon…..
I think the cheapest would be the basic or the entry level camera of Nikon, the D40. Get a good deal at Amazon.com. I got my Nikon D60 from Cameta Camera through them.
