The difference between a digital and a dslr camera is the sensors on most DSLR’s are nearly 15 times larger than the sensors on point and shoot cameras. Therefore the pixels are 15 times larger. Larger pixels deliver better detail and less noise than smaller ones.
The image quality of even the cheapest DSLR will be far greater than even the best point and shoot. The reasons are that DSLR’s have much better optics, much larger sensors, better faster processors
Canon SX20is is a super zoom point & shoot camera not DSLR.If you are looking for good camera that not too expensive, it is a good choice.
SX20 IS is from Canon, not Nikon.
DSLR stands for “digital single lens reflex”, so basically they are digital camera as well.
They work just like the old Film SLR cameras but use a digital sensor, usually far more superior image quality compare to smaller camera like the SX20 IS, but you pay for every bit of quality they give.
SX20 IS or other smaller cameras do provide a lot of things DSLR cannot, such as that it can do just about everything that would be impossible on a dslr in a small package. It has a 20x zoom, no dslr can have that, and to cover the range of SX20is with a dslr, you need to buy lens cost enough to put a kid or two through college.
So yeah, pros and cons, get the SX20 IS if you’re not too picky about image quality, else dslr are the only way to go for now.
DSLR mean digital single lens reflex camera
and the Canon PowerShot SX20IS 12.1MP Digital Camera is a good choice.
